I have always had a commute of at least an hour so when I discovered podcasts, my drives got way more exciting! I have cycled through a ton of different podcasts but I wanted to round up my top five to share with you. Now that we are on quarantine, I’ve been taking time to listen to podcasts and draw or doodle to zone out. It’s a nice change of pace from watching television, and I think it’s oftentimes more relaxing. These are my favorite podcasts to date, and I hope you’ll enjoy them too! Search them wherever you listen to your podcasts.
- The Bitch Bible – I love this podcast because it cracks me up. The perfect dose of snark, reality tv, pop culture, and real life. As much as I am on social media, there are so many ridiculous things that influencers do and social media can be just plain dumb at times. Jackie makes fun of the stupid stuff we do online and, oftentimes, says a lot of things that I haven’t said aloud but I totally agree with.
- Doctor Death – This was a wild podcast! I couldn’t believe it and I even had Andrew listen a little because of the tie-in with his profession. I was so interested, I couldn’t shut it off. It follows the story about a surgeon that commit many fraudulent operations and what happened to him and his patients as a result. If you know someone in the medical field, this could be particularly interesting for them!
- 1619 – This podcast is great for me because I never got engaged in history in that way that I wanted to. This podcast takes a deep dive into the history of slavery in the United States and provides even more content and stories that will have you reconsidering whether or not your high school history class was actually worth it.
- Limetown: If you have trouble sleeping and always want to watch tv, just follow this series. Turn off the lights, turn this podcast on, and it is like the best drama binge without all of the blue light and distraction. It is honestly difficult to tell whether or not it is fact or fiction, which makes it all the more exciting!
- The Dropout – The entire story of Elizabeth Holmes and Theranos equally scares and fascinates me. The entire situation is completely mind boggling to me, and I can’t even imagine what it would be like to be directly involved as a patient. This is such an important podcast to listen to because it exposes a lot about our medical field and testing that you probably would be surprised to find out. A MUST LISTEN for sure.
It’s so easy to sit and binge all of your Netflix favorites during this time, but podcasts are great because you can tune in while still working on your knitting, coloring, or whatever other project you have on hand. How are you spending this crazy time at home? Share your best ideas and I will re-post them on Instagram!
