A couple weeks ago, Andrew and I went back to Wake Forest to celebrate homecoming. Not only was the foliage beautiful, but it was so cool to see Andrew back in his element with fraternity brothers and fellow alums. Our seats for the football game were stellar (still singing my own praises) and made up for the fact that Syracuse totally trampled us. The best part of the game? My outfit. Yeah, that’s right. I’m saying it. I wanted to share all the pieces with you since it truly wound up being the best outfit for homecoming and would also be perfect for tailgating, outdoor concerts and events, and other festivals as well.

First thing’s first, the dollar spot at Target has tons of game day stuff including koozies, platters, and more all for under $5. I picked up this cute koozie there and wouldn’t gotten even more pieces had we been setting up our own tailgate. Thankfully, we weren’t and we were able to attend the Alumni Tailgate which had the absolute best Carolina BBQ ever and I totally ate my heart out while still keeping room for Krispy Kremes which is a true feat.

In preparation for this trip, I purchased a couple things that I would not typically keep in my closet including a clear, stadium-approved purse and a new pair of Chucks which I have not owned since middle school. I spent so much dang time researching a clear purse because, honestly, I think they are pretty hideous. I was not thrilled to have to pay any amount of money for one, but I figured if it was going to cost me more than $1, then I might as well get one I actually like. So many stadiums are switching to the Clear Bag Policy, so I am sure that I will be needing it again for a concert or another sporting event. After looking at all of my options, I settled on this bag with cute faux leather accents and a satchel-type style. I think the shape is so cute and less like a glorified plastic bag. The strap that came with it is fine, but I actually took my pearl-studded strap off of my Cruisin Crossbody from Lilly Pulitzer and used that instead. I loved bringing in the extra gold accent as well as the pearls. I had procrastinated buying this for so long, that Amazon was really the best option to ensure it would arrive on time for our trip. Though it will never be my first pick for purses on a normal day, I definitely won’t feel badly about taking it out when a clear bag is necessary. I used my jewelry pouches from Lilly Pulitzer to help organize some of my small items like my Chapstick and Advil inside of it so that things weren’t just rustling around.

The Chucks were an unexpected purchase, but one I’m glad I made. There are so many instances where it would be nice to have a cute little pair of sneaks to throw on, and these fit the bill with some gold glitter accents on the tongue. The style is actually made so that the tongue is padded and sticks up off the sneakers, which I think is a really cute detail.

For my outfit, I was super excited because Andrew and I got matching Wake Forest Shep Shirts through the Vineyard Vines Collegiate Collection. We love to wear Shep Shirts at the beach or during fall, so it was a nice way to buy something practical but also show spirit for Wake. Andrew’s is a little different because I added the patch later since the grey sold out online for him right before I placed the order. We were so comfy in our sheps and I was 100% happy with the decision.

For the rest of the outfit, I went with my Lilly Pulitzer South Ocean Skinnies with Lace in onyx. They’re stretchy and cute so basically they’re perfect. I grabbed the new Lilly Pulitzer Iliana vest as well because it is so soft and cozy. The sparkle in the trim doesn’t hurt either! Obviously, I had to bring my favorite sunnies and a cute Wake Forest hat among other things. I am linking everything below for you to shop. I even picked up a pink Instamax camera so that we could take photos to add to an album later. We had such a great time going back to Andrew’s alma mater and I can’t wait until we can do it again!
