Even for a news-lover like myself, it has been a little bit of a chore to suck down newsprint and online articles as of late. So, if you missed this article in the New York Times, it would be totally understandable.

Amidst all of the bad news, this one article is a true gem and definitely something you will agree with, just read this title: “Want to Be Happy? Buy More Takeout and Hire a Maid, Study Suggests.”

Yes y’all, we just made it.

The whole concept of the article uses a study to make the point that spending your money to save you time will bring you more happiness than any one “thing” ever could. For example, hiring someone to mow your lawn will reclaim 2 hours of your time on a Saturday morning which will bring you more happiness than a $58 pair of Lilly Pulitzer shorts ever could. Once I read this article, there was no putting the toothpaste back in the tube: I had to spend money to save time because science said so. Here are 9 ways for you to start reclaiming your time with (in most cases) fairly minimal expenditures. It’s time to get happy people.

Dollar Shave Club
Fresh razors delivered straight to your door. They are great quality, automatically come monthly, and you can add on extra toiletries to your order like their fab shave butter for your man. Stop wasting time staring at all of the overpriced plastic, single-blade excuses and get yourself a real grown up razor. #adulting

Bootay Bag
I lump the act of underwear shopping into that of toilet paper buying; they are both equally unenjoyable tasks, however, they are entirely necessary. With this subscription, you can have your underwear come straight to you. Just pick between never thong, always thong, or a mix and you will always have a full (and gorgeous) panty collection. Women everywhere with antiquated washer/dryer systems that completely shred their lacy undergarments, rejoice!

Country Club
It’s your gym, social life, favorite meal out, and vacation all crammed into one. When picking a club, be judicious about your selection. Select one that truly is a one-stop-shop, because the price tag is high enough that if it is lacking something, it will be difficult to stomach the membership fees. What I look for is one with a gym (for Andrew, NOT ME), year-long access to a pool, reciprocity at other clubs for tee times and dining, a thriving social calendar, young member rates (an instance where it actually pays to be young, who knew!), good dining, and the chance to golf and play/learn tennis. At Hershey Country Club, Andrew and I were going to enjoy all of these amenities. After the move, I’m back to the drawing board and looking for our next club scene.

Google Cloud Storage
Deleting pictures to save space on your phone is not only ridiculous but also unnecessary. With $1.99 in cloud storage, you won’t have to worry about it again. This is a complete no-brainer.

Netflix
With the ability to download certain episodes and movies to your devices, Netflix just got way better. Don’t waste time sitting around trying to be in front of your television to catch a specific show. With Netflix you can watch shows and movies when you want to and access them from anywhere on any number of devices. You don’t need to be strapped to your tv just to watch good programs.

Digit
Budgeting and saving money takes time, so let Digit do it for you. Hook it up to your checking account and let it store away savings gradually. In no time you will have built up a cushion without even realizing. Easy. as. pie.

The Skimm
The news is constant: constantly on, constantly changing, constantly important, constantly aggravating… You don’t need to be constantly checking and trying to decipher it. Sign up for theSkimm to receive a news digest wittily crafted to sound like a narrative your best friend might tell you if your best friend is smart, a little bit sarcastic, down to earth, and clever. Amazon Prime
This is not old news. Who can say no to 2-day shipping and the luxury of not having to drive all over God’s green earth for life’s necessities? Track down everything you need online and order it straight to your door without wasting the gas, time, or energy.
