I have always asserted that intelligence is one of the most attractive traits that a person can have, so today I’m sharing some of my best nerdy reads with you! If you aren’t an avid reader, this is a great time to pick up a good hardcover and give it a shot. Reading is not only relaxing but it gives you a chance to actually become invested in a topic and learn something new. In an age when most of us are more likely to tap into our smartphone with our free time, reading is becoming a lost art. I’ve never been particularly fond of history, so these two picks are definitely out of character for me but, trust me, they’re definitely worth your while!SXLLM

Decision Points: Even if you don’t classify yourself as a George W. Bush fan, this book provides a really unique glimpse into his time as president. I think what shocked me about the publication was the amount of personal details it provided. Even though the book primarily covered his presidential experience and all of the difficult decisions he faced in his role, my takeaway wasn’t about his political experience but instead I came away from this book with a fresh outlook on Bush as a person. This book was also written very well, so it’s really accessible even for those of us that don’t make a habit of tuning into C-Span or CNN.MLXLS

HRC: This book has been a really shocking experience for me. It was a bit more difficult to get into compared to Decision Points, but it has definitely given me a stark view of the White House and what the life of a politician is really like. Unlike Bush’s book, this tale of Hillary Clinton’s try for the presidency definitely zooms in on the politics of the experience as opposed to her personal relationships with friends, etc. I wish this book gave a more personal look at Clinton as a person, but even without that I find myself taking information from this book and using it as jumping points for me to research different events that I previously hadn’t paid any attention to.

Both books do an excellent job of engaging the reader while also giving you the opportunity to be more informed. What can I say, a nerdy girl like me enjoys that sort of thing! If you try out one of these books, let me know what you think! Or if you have a great nerdy book recommendation, I’d love to hear that as well! Happy reading!
